SERV International is a Christian nonprofit organization committed to serving people in some of the world’s most underserved communities. Since 2000, we have used food and practical service as a platform to build relationships, meet urgent needs, strengthen communities and share the hope of Jesus Christ.

SERV has used food as a platform to share Christ since 2000. We build relationships with people who live in some of the most extreme conditions on the planet, and we keep going back, providing clean water, shelter, education, protection from human trafficking and so much more.

We believe serving people means seeing the whole person. Hunger matters. Water matters. Safety matters. Education matters. Family matters. Spiritual hope matters. We don’t separate compassion from faith. We believe our responsibility is to serve people with dignity, meet tangible needs and share the love of Christ.

It Started With a Willingness to Go
SERV began with a simple conviction: when people are hurting, we should go to them.
In communities facing hunger, poverty, disaster and uncertainty, people often need more than a single solution. They need food. They need practical help. They need someone willing to listen, build relationships and keep showing up.
What began through mission work in places like Mexico and Venezuela grew into a global ministry serving communities across multiple countries and responding to needs wherever God opened the door.
A Story of Going, Serving and Staying
SERV’s story has never been about building an organization for its own sake. It has been about responding to people and communities in need.
Over the years, that response has taken different forms — and the locations have changed, and the needs have changed, but the heart of SERV has remained the same.
Two decades of saying yes
From church-building trips in Mexico to a global food and relief mission spanning three continents.
Steve Kasha led mission teams to Mexico and the jungles of Venezuela, where the vision for SERV was given while working with the Yukwana Tribes along the Orinoco river.
SERV International was incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)3 out of Canton, Georgia, with Steve Kasha as founder.
In Mexico, SERV developed Pan de Vida — “Bread of Life” — bringing together practical assistance and Gospel outreach, and confirming that serving physical needs opens doors to deeper relationships.
SERV took its first exploratory trip to Kenya with roughly 10,000 meals in army duffle bags for distribution to those in need.
The House of Hope orphanage was established in the Northwest corner of Kenya near Sudan, Ethiopia and Uganda in the Turkana region.
SERV expanded its work in Cambodia through an outreach center, combining practical assistance, food and life-skills development with relationship-building and Gospel outreach.
SERV Food Local was created to build stronger communities and feed those in need in our own community of Cherokee County, Georgia.
SERV continues to distribute millions of meals worldwide — providing 1,000 food boxes each month to families across Cherokee County alone.
SERV's story is still being written.
Today, the work reaches communities across different regions and circumstances, from local communities in the United States to communities in East Africa and the Middle East. The needs may look different from one place to another — hunger, displacement, poverty, disaster and vulnerability take different forms.
This is our story. And we are still going.
