Psalm 36:7
SERV International never set out to open an orphanage. In 2008, our founder, Steve Kasha, was taking regular trips to Kenya as we distributed millions of meals across the region. Along the way, we crossed paths with children who had no food, no family and no future — a need we couldn’t say no to. That same year, House of Hope was established.
House of Hope is now a refuge for seventy-two at-risk children, ages 3 to 18, rescued from extreme and unbearable living conditions. In the words of the children who live there, House of Hope is “a place of happiness.”
In the Turkana region of northwest Kenya, drought and famine have pushed families past survival. Child malnutrition has skyrocketed from 14% to 30%. Between 60 and 80% of livestock have died from dehydration and starvation.
Children are left with no food, no family, and no future. It doesn't have to be this way.
We start with food, because a child cannot learn, heal or grow while hungry. From there, we surround them with everything else they need.
At House of Hope, children receive a safe environment, Christian teaching, nutritional meals, education, health care, hygiene awareness, psychological support and household management.

Rebecca was one of the first children to come live at House of Hope, fourteen years ago. She was the first student from House of Hope — and the first person in her family — to graduate high school. Today, having grown up in the program, Rebecca has joined the House of Hope team full-time, helping the next generation of children find the same place of happiness she did.
SERV serves across some of the world's most challenging regions. From the drought-stricken Turkana desert in northwest Kenya, to refugee communities across Jordan, to families facing food insecurity in our own Cherokee County, each location is shaped by the urgent needs of the people in it. Every place looks different — the mission is the same.

Share in a sponsorship, or cover a child’s full cost of care. Either way, you’ll know their name.
This program is about more than funding — it’s about showing love and support to children who have too often been forgotten. As a sponsor, you’ll be able to write to your child, and in return, they’ll know your name and pray for you.
$55 /mo
Build a personal relationship with a child of your choice. Receive news of their progress, write letters, and know they pray for you by name.
$385 /mo
Cover the complete cost of one child’s care — food, shelter, education and health — fully in their name.
Prefer to support the whole program instead of one child? You can also give any amount toward House of Hope’s general fund, which helps with building and vehicle upkeep, emergency needs, and continued care for children who aren’t yet fully sponsored.
